Dirtman, in your original post you are saying the MKX is yours, but you don't drive it that much. That you want to get an Edge for your mom, but she won't be driving it that much, and it will probably end up being yours. Why don't you just give her the MKX ? Or did I miss something ?

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
First. Go near the end of the month... they're more likely to make a better deal to move more inventory.

Second. Go around 11:30. Around noon ask the salesman what he's getting you for lunch.

As far as haggling... Don't take the first or second offer. Just say that's not good enough. If you don't like the "final price" they come back with, get up and leave. If they let you go, then that really was the best price they could do. I've had them call me on my way home and agree to a lower price.

Last. Whatever your final price winds up being... don't accept it right away. Try to get them to throw in free oil changes, tire rotations, etc. And NEVER leave without a free tee shirt or polo shirt with the dealers name on it.

Depending on the time, there's usually doughnuts over in the service area and some even have popcorn machines... make yourself at home and take what you want.

The mkx was my moms, she wasn't able to drive anymore so I paid it off for her and it became mine. She wants a new car now since she is able to drive again. Me giving her the mkx back came up but she doesn't want it. She wants a new car... again, not my plan. Just doing what my mom wants. Logic has nothing to do with this deal. It's what mom wants.

The woman gave birth to me. If she wants a 2020 edge, she's getting a 2020 edge. I'd buy the woman a Bugatti if she asked.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
To get an accurate value I'd go to nada.com and enter the details about the MKX, it's the indutry standard. I guess I take living in NH for granted, taxes on a car wouldn't have occured to me. We get hammered when we register a new car, though.

This doesn't work at my place. The building is (IMO) poorly laid out, and the only path between the show room and the service area that doesn't go outside goes through the shop.

Show room is at the street front, service desk, waiting room, and customer parts counter are at the very back, and the shop and parts room are the whole middle 2/3 of the building.

I'm pretty sure my credit must be awful. I dont use credit cards, I finance nothing, I have equity in my property i guess but I just was raised to never buy anything unless you have the money. I pay my bills with money... in this culture though I guess I'm the jerk?

I have 2 bank accounts, a debit thingy and a savings account. I'm told I have some retirement account but I dunno how that works. I plan to die for my retirement.
There is a thing called manual underwriting for figuring out interest rates and your “credit score”. I’m not sure if it applies to vehicle financing but it does for property.

Try asking your bank or credit union about it, they might be able to help and save you in interest charges. I learned about it from listening to Dave Ramsey’s talk radio show.

I doubt the Edge is a gas guzzler.

Suppose to be 21/29mpg. Decent for a mid sized suv... the mkx averages 17mpg but has alot more power.
