TPMS light on but pressures are good

It's not like it blinks and beeps at you. Mine is usually on all winter since I keep the pressure low in the snow.

Not in my '18 Escape, that alarm comes on at 30lbs. , I've already been on the receiving end of that little issue. When we purchased the SUV the dealer had the pressures up to 42lbs, I deliberately lowered them to 34lbs, one of the 4 had lost pressure down to 29lbs and that warning lit up.

Im speaking strictly about the 2011 and earlier rangers. They are set to 25% of the OEM pressure which is generally 32psi for the ranger so 24psi. Thats how most of the basic systems work, the ones that can actually tell you the exact pressure of each tire on the dash are different. So if your escapes OEM pressure was 42psi then at 25% they would go off at 31psi. I doubt the OEM pressure was actually 42psi but if it is, then yea the light is coming on at the appropriate pressure.

You're referring to 25% loss, not remaining pressure.

25% of 32 psi = 8.

32 - 8 = 24

8 psi loss or 25% less than the oem pressure turns the light on aka 24psi.

This is not how ALL systems work. 25% is simply the maximum pressure the tire can loose before the light comes on by law. Some could come on with much less loss.

Thanks, good on pressure in all 4. I just installed wheels from an 2004 Ranger that didn't have a TPMS on a 2010 Ranger that does.

Ok thanks. To the person that asked if there is a chime no there isnt a chime for the tire light on my 2008. Although I got this set of wheels and tires used so potentially they could be older then 2008. Is there a way to test each sensor?

I just noticed your location, it's Winnipeg, here in Canada TPMS are not mandatory, acquire a copy of Forscan & purchase the hard wired interface, purchase the registration key from the supplier ($15) and acquaint yourself with the program & go into the BCD and turn off the TPMS circuit, in the end that's what I did with my Escape. One CAN do this here to the Canadian software but in the states one cannot do so.
