Have the owner's manual? If so it will be in there, somewhere.

2 or 4wd? Do you know the rear end gears? Standard cab or extended? Pic of the door sticker might help answer some of these questions.

Receiver hitch? Bumpers are usually rated around 2,000 pounds, could be exceptions.

Guessing you'll be pushing it to the limit, if you can do it at all.

Max towing capacity for a 2009 2.3 auto 2wd is 2,240 pounds. So no you cannot legally tow a 3,000 pound trailer.

It would be fine if you don't load more than 10 pounds on it.

Look at the GCVWR (gross combined vehicle weight rating), that's the truck, plus the contents of the truck plus the trailer. So yeah absolutely at the limit, and almost certainly beyond with any gear.

Having said that... I've driven across Florida, no mountains, so up to you. Flat as a pancake for the most part.

Get the lightest trailer that you can.

Just be aware if you tow even 1 pound over 2,240 pounds. Or cross the GCVWR limit and get in an accident you will be held liable and face a world of fines. Its a legal limit, not a manufacturer recommendation. It doesn't matter if the truck can physically move 3,000 pounds, it's illegal to do so.

With such a light limit in the weight. I would shoot for a chicken coop or a pop up.

regular cab or extended cab?

from personal experience a regular cab can't handle that much weight, the trailer will have a tendency to drive the truck.
