Torque sequence valve covers

I have the haynes manual but they don't say anything about torque sequencing for the valve covers. I googled but I can't find anything about the 2.9L

I don't think it matters given the limited amount of torque being applied there. If you're concerned about it, start from the center on opposite sides and work your way outwards.

Yes, center and out, in chris-cross pattern, like head bolts

Do NOT over tighten these bolts, that causes leaks
Use cork gaskets if the valve covers will stay on for a long while
They swell and self seal over time, but are not reusable after a year or so
Rubber gaskets are made to be reused but can't seal as well over time


Make sure PCV system is working well, this reduces valve cover and oil pan gasket leaks because it creates a slight negative pressure inside the engine in those areas
