Have a spot on the main road near my house where the water runs across the road. common spot to see black ice.

noticed it was icy went I left the house and not a few hours after I left there was a bad crash, no one hurt though. See a few of them a year.

The weather has been bouncing around as of late. Now it's a bit on the warm side for the time of year and there has been a quite a bit of rain. The carport is up. So I have that going for me. With the dirt either being frozen or being mud, nothing has been done in the garden. It doesn't look like the remainder of the dirt work is going to happen before winter really sets in. So, I'll probably nip away at the retaining wall work and either look for an opportunity to work the dirt or just wait until Spring after the rain stops.

It was a foggy 45° this morning, then warmed up to 52°, then down to 46° by 8:00 PM, and back up to 50° now due to the next storm pulling up warmer air as the front approaches. It's going to be wet and windy tomorrow. One website say gusts to 20 mph, another says 50 mph, and one of the local TV stations forecasting a disaster over a moderate mid-latitude low so they can keep a few eyeballs glued to the news for the benefit of their advertisers.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

There's a couple spots near my house where water randomly bubbles up from the pavement in the middle of the lane, creating icy spots. Both of those spots will have water coming up from below for most of the winter too.. it really takes a big cold stretch for them to stop 'leaking'

The towns tried to fix both of those spots too, multiple times... water still comes up through lol.

The low for Saturday was 50°. The high was 54° with a lot of wind and about an inch of rain. The low tomorrow morning is forecast to be 43°, then 52° Sunday afternoon. Weather models are inconsistent next week. One says the rest of the week has lows forecast near 32° and highs near 52° and fog. Another has lows in the upper 20s and highs in the 40s with more fog. And another has temperatures running lows in the upper 30s with highs around 46° with rain.

Weather here seems to be settling in to the typical temperatures for the time of year. More or less around freezing. Warm enough to keep the moisture in the air for that bone chilling cold that nobody loves. January and February is when it typically drops below freezing and stays there. At least to the most part. Depending on how fickle and bipolar Mother Nature wants to be. But still keeps enough moisture in the air that those who live in the Northern states agree that it’s damn cold.

The low was 44°, the high was 52°. Tomorrow should be the same. The NWS states the rest of the week will be 28-34° in the mornings, and upper 40s to near 50° in the afternoons. As of now the computer models aren't forecasting rain next weekend. That's good because I really don't want to work on the truck in 40-something degree rain.

40s and raining all day yesterday. No standing on the steep metal roof to hang lights for me.

The low was 28°, the high was 52°. The forecast if for 29° and 50° tomorrow, which is much warmer than it will be up in the higher elevations of Yosemite where it is forecast to get down to around 5° tomorrow morning in Tuolumne Meadows.

The low this morning was 28 with a few snowflakes from the fog. It's 36 at noon.

Here’s our version of cold. Granted, it gets colder in January and February but I think the humidity finally drops after a bit. Right now it’s 91% humidity and will chill you right down to the bone.
