what is the biggest tire I can put on my 88 ranger 4x4
with the leveling spacers I read about in the technical
section. somewhere on here someone said 265/75/15
or 31x10.50.

That's what most people will tell you. I found that with 30-9.50s the wheel well looked to be pretty full. At least it looked like anything wider would set under the metal of the wheel arch in the front rather than just behind it. It really all depends on how saggy your springs are. And how much weight is on them. Also different brands of tires can vary pretty significantly in actual dimension for the same "size"
