Hello Everyone,

Finally got all my parts for the conversion on my '85 bronco II. Getting ready to tear it apart. My mechanic had a question for anyone who might be able to answer it. He wanted to know the total timing for the motor. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have had people tell me that the timing should be 10-12 BTDC. He was asking for the advance at say 2500 or 3000rpm's.

Why is he trying to time it that high in the band? Timing should be set at hot idle, around 800-1000 RPM.

I have mine at 12 dbtdc the vacuum advances it 10 degrees and total timing at around 3000 rpm is around 37-38. with the vacuum advance connected to manifold vacuum should be around 20-22 at an idle.

thanks Kim, that sounds like what he was asking. With this we should be getting started on it very soon. Thanks again for all your info, I'll keep you posted as to the outcome.

You can either use manifold of ported vacuum off the carb whatever works best for you and if you have a non feedback carb. GL
