Ticking in motor

I have a tick in my motor and before I go and rip the heads off to do lifters would the rocker arms and pushrods also cause this?

1998 Ranger XLT, 4.0, and 5 Speed Auto

Possibly. Identify where the exact noise is, you should be able to use like a mechanic stethoscope or a long extension or something to listen around, see if the noise is in the valve cover or deeper.

I‘m gonna go ahead and put this where it goes…
