Can you use a 90 5.0 throttle body on a 2300 intake ? 93 2.3 ranger ? If so what do you have to change to make the computer read properly ?

vertical and above ground
The computer only 'knows' the TPS - throttle position sensor - which is bolted to the side of the throttle body. When you step on the gas, the shaft rotates, opening the throttle plate, AND turning the movable piece inside the TPS. As that wiper moves, it changes the resistance between two connectors, and thus the apparent voltage. If you can connect/fit your TPS to the 5.0 throttle body, and the throttle body will bolt in place and seal properly, the computer won't know the difference.
However.
If you change the airflow(diameter) across the board, the 'known' airflow will be incorrect unless you have a MAF. In that case, the 'known' airflow per degree of throttle opening will be different between the 2.3 and 5.0 throttle bodies, but the 'reported' airflow(from the MAF) will just be 'more than expected'. It might just work without problem. If you have MAP only, it likely will not work as well, but the different manifold pressure(open throttle==lower vacuum) will tell the system you are 'more into the throttle' and it should add more fuel. Will it work perfectly? I wonder.

The Foxbody Mustang forums are a good place to review 2.3l SOHC Lima upgrades, they used the same engine from 1974 to 1993

Just to add to the above, the computer already knows how much air will come into a 2.3 LITER engine at any RPM, thats just math
The MAF sensor is there to WEIGH the air, air weight changes quite a bit with temperature and elevation

You are under the assumption that the throttle body is, in someway, restricting the amount of air the engine can pull in at all RPMs, maybe, but not sure why Ford engineering would do that, its not an "emissions" thing, best airflow would be a goal of engineering department, Ford sells performance, maybe the 2.3l Lima wasn't the shining star of performance, lol, but they would have no reason to "de-tune it"

1993 Ranger: The restriction is the head, lower and upper intakes in that order.
Factory TB is fine for 200+ HP.

One of these days, youre going to have to post some research notes. Cough up the knowledge!

On my turbo engine I ported the head, mild gasket match and a MINOR engine rebuild at one point and LOST 2psi of boost, including the fact that the intake gasket was SHOT and missing some large sections at the head. So the head is the major restriction at least in the D port era like my '90 is running.

All fuel injected Rangers came with Cold Air Intakes(CAI) from the factory, if this has been changed then you may have found your problem

This is a CAI: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/attachments/oembox-jpg.59437/

This is a low flow and a warm air intake: https://www.knfilters.ca/media/images/l/57-2527.jpg

Tell tale............if you can HEAR the AIR FLOW going into the engine then its RESTRICTED
Many like that noise, that's fine, just know it means air is turbulent(the noise) so restricted

Ive been thinking it's a weak fuel pump . for a sensor unplugged that needs to be plugged. Person I bought truck from today 89 engine in a 93 recently built bottom up 93 block still bucks the same as the other one did. No power . but its on 30" tires and 353 gear 5 speed . Don't know if it matters but the radio harness has been cut and butt connected for radio when using headlights radio goes off
