thoughts on this truck-1995 ford ranger 3.0 2wd

so i have been throwing the idea of buying this truck from my dads buddy its been sitting since 2022
ive been looking at it since mid summer
its a 3.0 v6 with 146 k
its got a rough idle and sometimes stalls out at idle
i finaly pulled the trigger and bought it besides old gas what could be causing it
payed 500
light rust on the bed and bubling on the cab corners but thats the only rust

I looked I believe your engine still has a distributor. If it does, check the cap and the rotor, the wires and pull some sparkplugs and see what they look like.

I agree with Franklin, would definitely start there then clean the MAF with some MAF cleaner and see where that gets you. For $500 you didn't do bad, looks decent...

Ok I had done some reading and I thought they started the distributerless ignition in 95 where it would have the cam position sensor and synchronizer
But maybe I’m wrong
Seems to be decent for the price
It’s not perfect by any means but it’s maybe if running right worth 1500-2k.

Just found out it’s the 4.0 not the 3.0. Deal seems to just keep getting better going to pick it up tommorow
