So my wife's 99 Pontiac Bonneville is really on its last leg and I'm giving up working on it. It's time for the next car. She will drive it to work every day and we will drive it on road trips. She wants a mid-size and I want a rear-wheel drive. She doesn't like the look of any of the muscle cars (Mustang, Camaro, etc) so we've pretty much settled on an LS. I'm not usally big on luxury brands, but what the heck!

Basically I'm looking to hear from people that have experience with them, what the problem areas are, etc. Or if anyone knows of a TRS-grade forum for these cars they could point me to.

The two issues I found out about were leaking valve covers and therefore failing ignition coils and the wheel bearings cause a lot of people problems. The other stuff I hear about seems to be from a lack of maintenance, which is not something anything I own and care about will NOT suffer from.

Which engine should I go with, the 3.0 Duratech, or the Jag V8? I'm assuming either engine will provide plenty of get up and go and I'd prefer gas mileage over sheer acceleration capability.

Also how are insurance costs on these cars? Average? Above? Below?

So who knows about these cars?

Okay, my 2 cents, and it's not much, but....

I went car shopping with Mom, and she looked at one, with the V6. The test drive was really nice, smooth, really comfortable interior. Seams like a strong car. Felt really safe.

She just ended up keeping the escort though, I'm not too sure why. Haha.

POS! I'd stay away from em................all kinds of mechanical problems, and with the V8 Jag motor, they are a bastard to get parts for, alot of the parts are obsolete through Ford.

My 02, buy a Fusion or Taurus!

Yeah those are nice, but they are both FWD. I refuse to spend more than $500 on a FWD, and we want something nicer than 500 bucks...
