Ok i have a 94 ranger stx with push button 4wheel. the hubs have been changed back to manual lockers but the 4 wheel only works part of the time some times when you push the button it will engage but most of the time in wont. I can here the lil computer behind the jumper seat clicking every now and again but other than that it wont go into 4 low

I don't think that's you're problem. I'd lean towards the shift motor or maybe the switch on the dash itself. Are you pushing the button in hard enough? Mine was a royal PITA at times.
If you diagnose it and need any replacemnt parts for the 4x4 system PM me; have a complete system)

I am voting on cleaning of the shift motor. the grease in them gets old and gummy.

click on the link he posted. It takes 20 minutes to wipe the carbon off the shift motor components and your stuff should 'should' work fine after that. If you converted back to manual hubs what did you do with the old auto stuff? Im in need of some decent auto hubs.
