. I'm not opposed to ordering online.. does anyone have any favorites?
Fellow Mainer (and type 2) here. I never drank tea until I was in my 40s living in Europe where all my friends were Brits and Irish. Long story short, I often drink a couple pots a day now. I make basically what they call a “builder’s tea“ minus the sugar. Brew your tea in a little teapot, 1/4 - 1/2 inch milk in the cup, then the brewed tea into that (there’s a lot of science and debate there). That small amount of milk makes it sweet enough for me but i guess you could add a little stevia if you wanted it really sweet (stevia is supposed to lower A1C).

If you want a full bodied flavor and want the caffeine, my favorites are Yorkshire Gold and regular Yorkshire (red)…they’re both excellent black teas. If you can find them , Typhoo and PG Tips are also great black teas.

I used to hear tea has more caffeine than coffee. I did some research and found tea has about half the caffeine that coffee has, and green tea has a little less than black tea.
I used to hear that factoid all the time and eventually went looking for the truth. I can’t claim I’ve done the science but what I found, and seems to jive with what happens when you actually drink the stuff, is that tea has more caffeine by weight than coffee… but there’s less tea by weight in a cup of tea than there is coffee in a cup of coffee, if that makes sense.

I think your numbers are probably pretty accurate, and I think most of us that drink both would agree that feels about right. A strong cup of tea will perk you up. A strong cup of coffee will make your head buzz. :D
