On top of the gas pedals and Prius brakes, the government has received 80 something complaints about the power steering abruptly failing on Corrolas, with several accidents and injuries as a result.

I'm just glad I'm not working for Toyota right now! :icon_surprised:

The dealer techs are probably raking it in doing all the recall work though.

Sucks for anyone. That's what happens when you have inconsistent testing trials. Silly automakers.

NO.

You don't get payed jack for recall work.

I'm really hoping I get a job at a local shop instead of a toy dealership this summer (Toyota tech in training :icon_rofl: )

HAHA.

Ford pays alright for most recalls. I lose out big on the first two, maybe three that I do on any given recall and then after that I can usually do 'em pretty quick.

I had one week two years ago where all I did was the 08 Focus defroster recalls, that was my best week that month for hours turned. I was hourly at the time (still in training then) so I didn't actually make any more money.

But you are right, it still doesn't compare to a cash job.

Well, one thing I know about Toyota is that I like the cars and trucks. My wife has an '03 Corolla and we have not had a problem with it. We always keep her maintance up on it. She has about 47,000 miles on it and it still drives as new as the day we bought it in Jan '03. 41 mpg. She gets almost 348 miles to a fill up on 87 octane. We were shocked about the '09 and '10 cars having issues!!! We have a few friends who have a '09 or the '10 model and they have not had any problems...knock on wood.

Yeah, but you're right too in the sense that they're getting a lot of extra work because of it... Eh, I'll be hourly and on oil changes anyway so I'm not too concerned... I don't wanna work for a dealership though.

I'd rather be a flat-rater. My worst week flat rate was still better than my best week as the hourly Lube-goob.

i think its because they were in such a hurry to get new models out that they didnt really test and tune them and they just turned them out as fast as possible some one should lose there job for how many recalls there are.

The techs will be getting paid an hour for the brake problem fix. It takes less than 30 minutes. I think they will make enough cash.

The issues are negligible. Every carmaker has had recalls. Toyota's seem larger because they are selling so many cars worldwide.

They'll fix them all, and life moves on. Just like Ford's cruise control burning houses down. It happens.

I'm juat worried that it will be an excuse to shut down some american plants ..... not that Toyota won't stand up and fix any problems.

Exactly. That's what I've been saying for years; that Toyota has its problems just like every other automaker, and when they get widespread enough, they fix them, just like every other automaker.

What has been annoying is how people were worshiping Toyota as the perfect automaker who could do nothing wrong. You knew that couldn't last for long before someone got disapointed. Every company, including Toyota, makes mistakes from time to time.

I think you may have a valid concern here. That's the last thing our economy needs right now.
