Decided to create a new thread in the build section rather than the show off section where the old one was, as this is going to turn into a good sized build.

Anyways where the truck is now:

And the new heart for the truck:

Coming from this truck:

Has a mild cam in the engine and a shift kit in the trans. Runs really strong. Starter is a little suspect and the battery is almost toast but once it's running it's great.

And that is one of the reasons this is now the "That'll never work" build. It's going to be a bastard truck. Or as I like to say, the best of both worlds:thefinger::thefinger:

If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
why are you replacing a perfectly good Ford engine with a chevy.

Because it was a 3.0. Lol.

But the reason this particular engine is going in: I know it's history, I know it runs well, I know the previous owner, and I got the whole truck for a grand. It will give it a pretty good boost in power, make upgrade parts easy to find, and set the truck up for a SBC if I ever decide to really go nuts.

We have a 4.3 in a truck and it has tons of power for a stock v6 with an auto

Good way to ruin a decent truck.

WHY DO I KEEP BUYING DODGES?!?!?
Why not just put a 4.0 SOHC in? More power than a 4.3 and your truck is new enough it was an option from the factory. If the 4.3 is so awesome, leave it in the truck it's in - doesn't look like anything is wrong with it...

There are lots of issues with the truck it's in. It's coming out and going in the ford. It will improve the truck 10 fold.

Plus it's a much better base than the ford v6s.

Replacing the intake manifold gasket 10 times more often doesnt mean its a 10 times better motor than your 3.0...

When are you planning on doing the swap?

Probably a dumb question, is that a manual, or automatic?

I'm starting to pull everything out of the blazer on my days off of work, then I'll get the engine cleaned up, prepped, and made pretty. I'm pretty sure it will be this summer but my schedule is insane with my job. I don't remember my last day off before today.

And it's currently an automatic. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to keep it or swap in a manual. I'd like a manual but the 4L60E should hold fine in this application for a while.
