You can see the helical cut gear on the end, it meshes up with one on the cam that is behind the large timing gear.

Running out of parts to put on. :)

Brother is coming over next weekend to help to the car back together, maybe we’ll even place the engine.

No pictures, but I finished up a couple more odds and ends. Valve covers are painted, brake booster is back on, power steering rack is bolted on.

I broke two of the original bolts to hold on the valve covers, so I decided to replace all the bolts.

I need to drag the trans mission out from under the table and get that ready to go back on the engine. Then I should be able to put them in the car.

I can't wait to see it finished .

I hope you know how to attach a video of it running .

I only had one dry day but I got the engine in and running, the brakes are soft so I'll sort that out before any test drives .

Isn't it fun knowing you're almost there ? .

=

last weekend I got the trans all cleaned up and mounted to the engine. Pushed the car out of the garage. Then rigged up my chain hoist.

Brother was supposed to come over this weekend to help get it in the car, but he was sick. Maybe next weekend.

New throw out bearing, clutch fork and pivot ball.
There was only about 30k on the whole transmission rebuild when I pulled the motor, but the pivot for the clutch fork was worn out and everything chattered and squeaked a lot.

I hate clutch judder .

I have found that -some- vehicles tend to have very long clutch cover life in spite of needing new clutch discs occasionally .

The reality is, I should have replaced the pivot and fork when I had it apart before, but I didn't because I was in a hurry. I did the rebuild in a weekend in someone else's driveway. Didn't want to leave it there for a couple weeks waiting for parts.

It was really annoying so now is the time.

No pictures.

Brother came over.
Got the engine and trans bolted up. Started the wiring. ( I thought I did a good job labeling everything, but clearly I was drunk.)

All the accessories are in.

Still a ways to go,“WTF is this and where does it go?”, but we’re pretty close.

It’s still a giant pos but it’s my giant pos, and I am itching to get it back in the road.

Put the upper intake on and plugged in some wires and hoses.

Looks like just some odds and ends at this point. Could probably get it running in a weekend if I put myself to it.

Thanx for the update ! .

This sire seems moribund .

My little Ranger now has a whopping 137,000 miles on it and still runs like new with 40 degree A/C out the dash vents .

I can't wait to read about your test drive .
