well title is pretty basic , the progression of my $350 96 Explorer hahaha

here is when i first got it , $350 at the auction with the CEL on for P0401 and bald tires

so then i swapped over my tires from the Red 97 and put on a new DPFE , along with all Rear Brakes and Axle Seals

had the oil changed at school and decided i liked the height it is at in this picture

then added my blue light

unfortunately then i had a trans failure , but luckily i had a spare trans that had already been rebuilt , this is a shot of bringing it home to have the other trans installed

and here is where it came home after the tranny shop got done with it , as you can see the paint is peeling off the galvanized patch panel the PO installed

i then bough a Dash Mount LED Blue Light and a Light Bar for the roof

but i stopped that for now and bought a new door to replace the bad Driver Rear one and decided to paint it myself (used to be blue) , here it is after clear

I will keep updating this as i get more and more done on the thing , so far i have a total of $1400 with the purchase price invested in this rig , what do you guys think ?

Sweet deal, some people would have just scrapped it at that price.

Man, I need to hit up some auctions! Sweet score...... Can you send me your rear brake assembly? Ha ha. I'm having a hard time finding discs for my 8.8. The drums are all rotted out, and shitty.

Does it have a salvage title, or something? Repo?

the original plan was just to use it for parts , but then i needeed a vehicle to drive so i fixed it and put it on the road

no , i think the guy got sick of putting money into it , it has a new EGR valve , new EGR tube , new vacuum lines , it looks like a shop followed the diagnostic procedure and the next step was replace the PCM (procedure for P0401 and P0402 never even touches on the DPFE)

well i did some work to it today , getting ready for a 1200 mile round trip this week , so i did the tune up (one wire was arcing against the dipstick tube until i turned it enough to stop) , changed the air filter (5k since i bought it and never touched it) and installed the new door (sick of the shitty old one)

so here are some pics from the day

new accel coil

old air filter

belden edge and motorcraft finewire , only way to go

changing 1 , 2 and 3

lifesaver tool

still needing sanding/buffing

new range target

i actually got it from a buddy of mine , it is for a full size chevy and i cut it down , unfortunately i cut too far the first time and i have to mount it further in than i wanted

and i just realized that i should have taken a pic with the door off , it looked goofy sittin there with no door and the whole harness just kinda hangin there hahaha
