Why, why, WHY does ford do this!?!?!?!?!?!?

The guy I got the axles off of gave me a box of wheel nuts and bolts, etc. Tried and huh, this is the wrong thread?? Went to the parts store and of course ford used two different threads on the wheels in 03 on the 250’s and 350’s. OF COURSE THEY DID!!!!

So mine are m14x1.5 and the other one is m14x2.0. Basically a fine and course m14.
Guy at the counter says there is no description on why or what takes each. I asked single or dual wheels? Nope. Front or rear? Nope. Well what the hell ford? Why is there two different thread pitches on 03 (and probably other years) f250/350’s???

I had a 81 f100 with the Swiss cheese frame, bought a second for parts. Both had the same build date and were only 800 or some numbers apart on the vin.
All ps brackets were different, water pump inlet on different side, rad was different. Both 302/c6.

Ford really makes me shake my head sometimes.

Ok, so I got good news and bad news.
Good news, the front axle isn’t as much wider than I thought. I don’t think I’ll have a driveshaft angle problem, YAY!!

Bad news, the backspacing on the 17” rims is different than the 16” and the rims are bottomed out on the knuckle. Aaaahhhh!!!

I don’t know if I have room for spacers or maybe I’ll put the rims on backwards? Anyway, done for the day, wife needs a ride to town.

More tomorrow. (Hopefully picking up f350 driveshafts this evening)
