Actually, TRS is sort of like a bunch-o-dudes standing around waiting for each other's trucks to break, then talking each other through how to fix them.
Sometimes I wonder what Jim the owner thinks when he sees 3/4 of the stuff you guys put up here and I'm not talking about the tailgate ;missingteeth;

I do suppose my tolerance for exhaust volume is probably higher than most though lol.
You're gonna love it then. I put one on my old Mazda 4cyl back in high school. Found some dirt cheap 3" steel pipes for gas or something, cheaper than the auto stuff but way thicker. Never heard one on small pipes before but I was pretty happy with mine. That car was hilarious.

He did just have to hire some new moderators.

They may be delinquents but they're not about to take a chowder dump in some innocent furnace. Although... Grandpa shoveled cow pies into his old octopus furnace in the winter during the Depression when the coal ran out. Probably stunk pretty bad outside.

Made an appt to get my yukon lsd and 4.10s installed in my truck next week, that's exciting. Looking forward to being able to push my truck a little further through the trails.

Also started my tube bumper/skidplate project today. Using a China pipe "kinker" to bend my tube. Got the main tube bent up to my liking, contours the front well.

39038

As pipe and tube are measured differently, the dies that come with the China benders are largely useless for tube. I forget the size of the die in the picture (I'll update), but as you can see I needed to open it up just a bit so my 2" tube could fit in it.

My grinder made quick work of what needed to be done.

It fits!

The bending rig needs a couple mods to really make it easier to live with, but for what I did today it's not bad. Definitely worth the 65 bucks I snagged it for on eBay.

I don't have any pictures of my bent tube, I was tired and forgot to take some like a dummy, your just gonna have to imagine it for now lol.

I need to buy some more tube, tabs for future lights, and figure out my brackets to mount the thing next. God's willing.. next week I'll make more progress on it.

Tube is measured outside diameter. Pipe is measured inside diameter. And pipe has different "schedules" which are the thickness of the pipe wall. So a schedule 40 pipe is less diameter than a schedule 80 pipe, tho both could be 1 3/4" ID.

Driven my truck for 2 days now since the re-gear and yukon lsd install, and It's awesome.

I went with motive gears and a yukon duragrip clutch type lsd.

The truck has tires 1.5" bigger than factory on it currently (225/70/15 --->235/75/15) and going from 3.73 to 4.10s has given the truck all the snap it lost with the "big" tires back and then some. I can even go up another inch to 30" tires and still end up with an overall ratio lower than factory (only .03 under, but still under)

As for the lsd, initial impressions are great.

Took it for a quick jaunt down an old grown in logging road.. at one point the trail comes down a gravel-ey wash, through a "stream" that's 3 feet across and back up a soft hill (an 02 duramax with all seasons needs to hit the 4x4 to make it up the softer side) I made it last week with an open diff, but I really bounced myself through it with good ol' momentum. With the lsd I was able to crawl (comparatively) through the stream and right up the softer side. Probably halved the amount of mph needed to make it through at least.

I'll get a video eventually.

Ordered some Ching chong mud tires today, achilles desert hawk x-mt's in 30x9.5"

370$ shipped to my door, not bad. As long as sped-ex doesn't botch the delivery (knock on wood) they'll be put on Thursday or Friday, and.. with any luck.. get thoroughly tested this weekend.

Got the tires on, really pleased with them so far.

First time driving on mud terrains and the added traction is comparable to upgrading to an lsd from an open carrier. Super impressed with my little 2wd truck now.

Good looking truck. . . Funny that Achilles was adopted as the brand name for the tire maker. Cool name and all, but the whole "Achilles Heel" story revolves around the weak spot on an otherwise invincible warrior. . .
Achilles (2).jpg

Kind of like a gun manufacturer coming into business and deciding to call his company "Misfire". . .

Keep up the good work,

Paul

Thanks Paul, I too thought the company name was an odd pick lol.. But being somewhat of a gamblin' man I figured I'd take the risk 😂
