Guys perhaps someone else has seen this. My Temp gauge spikes right to hot when I turn the key when the enging is cold. After sitting for a few minutes it goes to halfway or hovers around the upper range. Any thoughts?

most all new vehicles do that now. cept should be all the gages it is referred to as sweep. however you said with eng cold it stops well above where it should be....right. my guess either a ground or a sending unit on temp sensor.

To test the gauge take the wire off the sender (the one wire connector on the front of the engine) and turn the ignition to run. Needle should be pegged cold. Then ground the wire, needle should peg hot. If that works, you need a new sender. If not, you have an issue with the wiring. My vote is on the sender, they're pieces of crap and go bad all the time. Good news is that they're only $10.

Follow up- Replaced starter relay and ignition/starter relay for another problem and the temp gauge works as it should.
