I recently bought a like new Kindle Fire; non HD.. wondering if anyone uses a tablet much? I just bought this one Bc of the price.... so far ive enjoyed it. Even reading American Sniper.

Has anyone here compared the Fire HD to the non HD? I might end up having to buy one for nh gf or buy me the HD and she'll get this one. Textbooks are cheaper when they are Ebooks..

i have a couple of Nexus 7s that i like a lot, one lives in my truck (Torque app and a $6 bluetooth OBDII adapter) and google music streaming all the time over my tethered phone makes for a decent entertainment system, the one that i keep in the house is mostly used for watching netflix and surfing the web. i would take a look at the Nexus 7 before i buy another kindle.

I got an HP touchpad for $99 when they had a firesale on them (they originally were $500), i use it everyday. I find it useful to have when i am working on my truck so i can look up info without having to venture to my computer.

Yeah the build quality is horrible and it is not the fastest thing, but it gets the job done lol. I have it set up so i can dual boot the HP software and android.

I have the kindle fire HD (7 inch 16gb) I love it. I have even thought about rooting it so I can put Google play store on it, but so far it has been pretty good. I did manage to sideload gmail and the YouTube app on it tho.

Do you use Tapatalk on your Kindle? I'm trying to figure out how to load it onto my Kindle but I can't seem to find a download of the apk file required.

Apple products aren't the only game in town anymore. That being said, they are a quality product, support is great. I am a Apple owner ( iPads, iPhone, iPods) and like them very much. I'd consider another brand, but as of now I'm quite happy with my devices.
For those interested in apple products, go to the store web sight and look for their refurb products. Saves some money, brand new case, battery, same warranty as a new product. I've bought several refrains for family and friends, there is no difference from the brand new items. Even can get apple care still.

I'm not much a fan of Apple devices. I've had the Kindle for a couple years, it still works well, and I'm too cheap to spend bucks on a new device. I just want to upgrade its capability with new apps.

yep, I have tapatalk 2 from the amazon store. it is not the latest release, but it is on there. works pretty good.

I'm just used to apple's UI. I've had iPhones since the first iPhone. My next laptop will be a MacBook Pro. Not saying they are the "only option". I'm not saying the kindle is a bad tablet, I just prefer the ipad.

x2 on not getting an iHerd device. the only redeeming feature that apple has is that their apps are a bit better developed than android apps. but the price of their hardware is way too much for what you get.

The Kindle Fire HD that I have (the one that came out about a year and a half ago) is only $139 and is a real nice tablet/ e-reader. You can also get a quality Android tablet for similar price.

Since he already has the Kindle Fire, might as well use it

Teh only gripe I have on my Kindle Fire HD is that Amazon app store is a bit lacking. I have been able to sideload some apps on it that are not in the amazon store like gmail/ youtube, and firefox. If I root it, I can do more with it, but I have not had a desire to root it as it does most of what I want it to do as is.

For youtube, gmail, and firefox I just googled it. to get gmail and youtube to work you also had to sideload the google login services, and there was a certain way to do it. I think you had to get the login services loaded first.

If you haven't already done so, you will want to go to amazon and get ES file explorer. it is free, and you will need it to find and launch the apk files.

What version of Android are you running? Ice Cream Sandwhich?
