Looking for the best place in the engine bay to locate Key-Switched Power to run a new circuit for DRLs in my 2003 Ranger EDGE.
Hoping for a circuit with minimum draw.
Thanks

In 2003 fuse 41 in engine bay fuse box has 12v only when key is on, it powers O2 heaters, trans solenoids and EVAP solenoid
You could use that to activate a relay, 0.5amp draw, but not to power 2 headlights, 8amp draw

You could/should add a 2nd relay to cut power to DRL lights when main head light switch is on

As for wires, the IAC Valves red wire only has 12v with key on, same for most engine bay solenoids, their red wire has 12v only with key on
But again, NOT to power headlights, just to activate a relay that would power headlights from an added 10amp fuse from battery power

Thanks Ron.
I need to power the rely only.
Then a fused power wire will go from the Battery to the relay to the grille lights. So power directly from the battery to the lights.
Amperage draw I don't know off the top of my head, but the 2 Halos and the 3 small LED lights shouldn't draw much.

Thanks for the info, i will check out the wires.

I hope to get this done in the next day or two !

Ah, so not powering the headlights, so no need to turn these off when headlights are on

Any of the engine bay solenoid's red wires can be tapped into, they are also only powered in RUN, not ACC
IAC Valve's red wire is probably the easiest to find, lol

Sorry, this circuit will power the three LED Grille Lights and the two Halos.

No Headlights on this circuit !

Thanks Ron, appreciate your knowledge base, incredible !

RonD, Thanks for the assist so far.
Found the fuse, found the color code for the attaching wire, (LB/OR), but haven't found the wire itself.
So far I have only looked behind the battery area, I opened up the main harness and found no wire colored LB/OR !

To look closer I need to remove a couple of other units and if I don't need to... I don't want to.

Hoping someone can tell me which way the wire from Fuse #41 travels in the harness; forward or rearward.
The Fuse Box Harness blends in another main harness, I'm thinking the wire I want goes to the rear because it isn't behind the Battery !

Thanks

p.s. One more thing, how to I ring it out to make sure I have the non powered side of the fuse, I removed the fuse, I know the power side of the socket but without the wire I'm screwed.

Wire runs to all the O2 sensors so would be easier to find it and tap it at closest O2 sensor plug-in

Thanks, I have a wire spliced in the Load side of F1.41, and that wire will be part of the Relay Trigger.
A few more wires and I will have DRL's; grille and halos !
