Has anyone upgraded their rear shocks or added a rear sway bar to improve the baby buggy ride of their new ranger yet? I’ve been researching and there doesn’t seem to be many upgrades out there yet and for those that are out, there are no reviews. I’m hoping to improve the almost non-existent damping of the factory rear shocks. I am not enjoying 4 bounces for every bump I hit.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
If you're seriously getting 4 bounces for every bump, maybe there is a problem that should be fixed under warranty.

if its bouncing too much a sway bar wont do anything. look into better dampening. fox or king make oem replacements by now im sure.

My front end is a bit bouncy but not that bad. Granted, I have the FX4, which should have a stiffer rate anyway.

The weak shock dampening is the issue. A shock with a stiffer dampening rate is needed.

stiffer dampening wont do much unless the rebound dampening is more effective. bounce is not a result of stiffness, but a result of rebound control. rebound is how fast the shock can extend. lets say two shocks have the same amount of compression stiffness, a shock that has alot of rebound dampening (slow rebound) will bounce less than a shock with little rebound dampening (fast rebound).

It doesn’t seem like the back is the issue. The front is what seems to have all the bobbing going on.

Ok update, I ordered some Rough Country N3 rear shocks. I know Rough Country is Chinese garbage, but they were really cheap ($44 ea) and no one else is offering replacement shocks for the new Rangers yet. So I thought it would be worth a bash. I threw them on this morning. Took about 20 mins. I have to say they were a nice improvement. The rear end seems much more planted on the road and the bouncing has been reduced immensely. But they also highlight how poorly the front end is damped now. Overall, I would call the experiment a success. I will use these until Blistein or Eibach offer a full set of shocks and then upgrade to those.

Keep us posted. My plan is to just wait it out until decent aftermarket brands offer better than factory shocks.

Thanks for the links. Those are some pricey shocks! I'm sure there is a reason why and they are worth it.

Rancho's RS999333 just need some aluminum 12mm x 16mm x 40mm sleeves to slip right in.

With the external adjustment knob, can dial in the shocks to suit. Their 5000 and 7000 shocks can also be used.

Except for the dimensions of the inner metal sleeves on the bushings the 98 - 04 Nissan Frontier w/Desert Runner pkg or PathFinder are the source. Along with easy to adjust, the Rancho's come with bare bushings and a packet of sleeves. Makes using a different sleeve easy.

There are some other very good options for the Nissans, but I don't know if the sleeves are slip fit, or bonded on the bushings.
