At some point a long time ago, the e brake got pushed with the brake cables disconnected. I've tried pulling the release and pulling the pedal up, but it's stuck. Pedal does not move at all. Release is working as best as I can tell, but I've not wedged my 350 lb self up under the dash yet to know for sure. Do these assemblys have a way to release/reset the pedal when this happens? I've done it before on a 250/350 that broke a cable, but it was a 2000's super duty truck. Even if I have to remove it, it's still better than having to try to find a new one.

My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
If what its hooked to is stuck/rusted in place then probably not.

I assume you pulled the release handle?

Maybe have someone hold the release and wack the bottom of the pedal with a hammer?

When that happened on my '90 I had to take the assembly off the truck which sucked, a couple of the bolts are pretty awkward... as it turns out the release linkage was bent to the point it was jamming and maxing out before it pulled the release pawl enough to release...

If you can wedge yourself in there (might be easier if you pull the drivers seat, it's just 4-5 bolts) and have a good enough pair of pliers there's a Z bend in the release linkage, bend that Z bend tighter and try that, that's all I did and it's been working fine...

Front seats and carpet have been stripped out of it, they were done. I've got plenty of room now to lay in there, and I may try that tomorrow when I go over to try and get it buttoned up enough to get out of my parents garage.

Picture for fun.

Eventually I pulled it out, after having to pull the fender to hold the welded nut that broke 😡.

The pedal was stuck rusted, the release, although released, was stuck, and the release handle lever was bent, not fully pushing the release.

AND I broke the release handle rod while trying to manipulate it into working......
