I came up with a random idea to use some prerunner glass as a widebody on a 93 rwd 2.3 so i could have a better road stance and i was thinking about putting an 8.8 in it to lock the rear for when i want to drift it. it will be really really under powered and i love that. keep the power low and just daily it but with a wide body, was also thinking a turbo for the sounds lol. who has some helpful feedback for my little entertainment?

Have fun with it. Start a build thread in the appropriate section and keep us updated. The 2.3 can do a lot when you add a snail, modify a few things, and add the right tuning.

I've thought about the prerunner fender as wide body kit thing before too. My only problem with doing it is that most prerunner fenders have huge wheel arches. IMO it would be hard to balance enough tire to fill the well and low enough to get the right stance. Be interesting to see what you come up with and if it doesn't work out, I'm sure you can find someone to buy the glass.

I've always thought that was a great idea. Here's a ranger with fiberglass front fenders, I think they should have done the fiberglass bedsides instead of adding flares.

His dual tanks may have complicated the fiberglass besides.

But yeah, one or the other would have been better.
agreed, 50.50 not the best way to go in my opinion

I doubt that Ranger actually has dual tanks since it was built as a pro tour truck. That would be a lot of unnecessary fuel and weight in a race truck. The rear fuel door probably goes to a fuel cell.

see, you get me, i was wondering how it would look and trying out some looks on a game called BeamNG Drive but its hard to decide on one thing, keeping it simple but with the bare minimum of all the fun things is the goal so it might get built ever so slowly, especially since im in the middle of an engine swap on a 90 prerunner build

Ya, but think how cool a Ranger would look with those fenders and some wide racing slicks on the back filling in that opening. Skinny tires are going to look silly.

fair, i dont want super wide, maybe some 2in glass, just enough to have some curves, so it might still work with some slightly deeper dishes

Black Widow exhaust did prerunner fenders and bedsides on their S10:

I like it. But you have to fill the fenders out with some really wide tires, and most prerunner fenders raise the front wheel opening, so you've got to lower the hell of of the truck to fill the wheel opening and not look too ridiculous. Otherwise your truck ends up looking like a before picture:

It's also going to be relatively costly.
You're probably going to have $1k in lowering stuff (drop kit + shocks + alignment)
4 10" wide wheels are going to be $500 on the low end, and $infinity on the high end
4 tires that fit your wide wheels (295 or wider) will be every bit of $1k, and closer to $2k if you want decent ones
Fenders will be $400-800, and you can either bulge the stock bedsides, or switch to fiberglass prerunner parts for another $400-800
Then you get to paint/wrap them to match, which can be cheap rattle cans for a few hundred, or pro body shop for $2k+

So, the only way to do this and not look ridiculously dumb is to go full send and do it all. If you do things on the cheap, you're still likely to spend $4k or more, and the cost can easily shoot up if you're buying more expensive wheels or tires, or having a body shop get it looking right.

but until you get some money to do that, the wheels will help.

maybe you can get some cheap e30 m3 fiberglass fenders and use those?
