Hi guys,

I have found some more details on my problem.

The manual hubs both engage, no problem

I jack up the passenger side, engage the hub and spin the tire... the shaft rotates and it spins around and around and around

I jack up the driver side, engage the hub and spin the tire... the shaft rotates but the tire only spins about 1 revolution and then it starts feeling like it is winding upo as rubber band and the further i go the more resistance I get until i cant turn it any more.

When both hubs are engaged and the truck is driven in 4wd, it jerks the steering wheel back and forth.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON????

More than likely you have a seized or binding outer u-joint on drivers axle shaft. Mine did the same thing and the joint was toast. Look for rust coming out of the seals on the axle u-joints.
