I have a strange dash noise. I haven't been able to record it. The only way I can describe it is as if there's a mouse inside the dash scratching real quickly. I obviously don't have a mouse in my truck. It's not consistent. It used to be only when the AC ran. Now it'll start doing it like 2 minutes after I start driving. Doesn't matter if I am accelerating or not. But it seems to only do it when I am cruising under like 50. After that, road noise starts and I can't tell. It can last for like 3 seconds or as long as 10 seconds. It's real annoying. And smacking the dash or climate control area doesn't make it go away, lol. Any ideas? I can try and video it if you want me to. Thanks.

If you put the climate control all the way to off, does the sound disappear?

Mine started making that noise when I changed out my radio and bent one of the four metal clips putting it back together. Some plastic in your dash is rubbing against another piece and you hear a scratch. When you locate it try a product called Second Skin Overkill. There are also products that reduce scratching that are a rubber base spray, but haven't tried them yet.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Must be a relatively new truck if you're complaining of noises like that starting to occur. Wait til a dried oak leaf or business card falls down the defrost vent and lodges against the blower wheel. Or maybe get a Skittle rolling around in the vent ducts. But then you start to hear a loose tailgate, squeaky dry suspension bushings, lifters, steering whine, the loose heat shield around the catalytic converter...

No, it does it with climate control on or off. Heat and A/C. Used to do it only with A/C, now it does it with A/C off. Also found it does it with Heat the other day.

Yes I am sure, lol

It's a 2002. I've actually had a leaf get into the blower before, lol

To send it or not to send it, that is the question.

Digging up an old post. Turns out, it was bad front wheel bearings causing pieces in the dash to rattle. Replaced the wheel bearings because they were bad, and all dash noises went away
