i had to google. the guy next to me told me UP is upper peninsula but he said he thought that would be on the other peninsula, the higher one.
the upper peninsula is the higher one.
people there are You-Pers. several versions of that are used. nothing special about residents of the lower peninsula
there are 2 cities named she-boy-gan
Cheboygan Michigan, in the upper part of the lower peninsula.
Sheboygan Wisconsin which is on the western shore of Lake Michigan, about 1/2 way up. or down.

I know im in the minority but....

I dont get whats so great about the UP, or really up north in general.

Yes its nice to look at, and drive through, or ride quads in....but i much prefer the rural south (as in, TN, NC, GA etc)

I love the northern lower and the UP of Michigan because it has over 4 million acres of publicly owned accessible land.

i don't understand what is so nice either. it gets so cold you can die if outside, every thign rusts from the bottom up, its very expensive (from reading yall's posts), and you can die from being out in the cold.

dieing from the cold and the rust are the ones that keep me out. its hot where i live, really hot most of hte year but at least i won;t die from heat if i am stradned outside in the middle of hte day. i can get out of my truck and sit in the shade and wait for however long it takes to get saved. if i lived someplace that gets as cold as you guys talk about and got stranded out on the highway with a broken vehicles, i could die from freezing. why would i ever want to have to worry about death from freezing. i know you ahve to take blankets and plan for what ever but why even be in that possible situation.

and the cars rusting out from the bottom up is just crazy. 5 year old cars and you have rust eating away at the fenders and anything underneath. no way, i would be mad every time i saw my vehicles. thats just to much negativity to live with, rusintg cars and don;t forget to bring your emergency pack in case you get stranded so you don't freeze to death. thats why i don;t live in colorado too (well, not only why, colorado ahs some crazy other stuff too)
