stock explorer wiring harness for the trans swap?

Ive got a question to see if anyone knows. Ive got a 2000 explorer harness, ECU, upper/lower intake, and GTP heads. Can I mate this to a 95 roller 5.0 short block and make it work? Also, I really don't know which trans came with the explorer stock but I've got a few different cores in my shop including, an AOD, AODE, C4, and a C6. I am 100 percent that the AODE was rebuilt and run about 1000 miles before it was wrecked and removed. Therefore, id like to use that trans if I can. Im probably not doing a 4x4 conversion or too much power over the stock configuration. Can I make this trans work with the factory progrqmimg in the explorer ECU or is the explorers ECU programed for a different style of trans? if its designed for say a 4r70 or something else would this trans work? IF not can I use ONE of the C trannys or the gen 1 AOD? IF so, what will I need to make the eng ECU run with a non computer controlled trans? Any help?

You are missing a piece to the puzzle, what engine was in the 2000 Explorer, thinking V8 but could be V6

2000 V8 explorer used 4R70, V6 used 5R55E

2000 V8 Explorer trans harness and computer would only work with 4R70

Why not do some "horse trading", or selling, and swap the newer AODE for a newer 4R70 2WD
A 2WD trans and 4x4 trans are different, not interchangeable especially automatics

The computer would work fine with an AOD, as far as drive-ability, the CEL(check engine light) would just be on all the time

The speed signal can be an issue depending on the year of the vehicle the 5.0l and trans are going into

I regularly swapped 4r70 into aode applications. Generationally only difference is gear ratio.

I am assuming you have a pcm and wiring for a V8 Explorer. You will be able to use the 2000 pcm / wiring on the 95 engine (with a few adaptations) but the 2000 pcm will be expecting pats, whereas if you find a 96/97 Explorer pcm it will not need that, and that will make your life a lot easier.

If you get a tuner or have a custom tune made, all the transmission shifting stuff can be turned off, so if you want to use a non-computer controlled transmission you could, but the later computer controlled transmissions are better imho. As Ron said, the pcm will be expecting a 4R70W transmission and will not work with any other unless you turn off the shifting stuff.
