The only deal with those Nagant Revolvers is that ammo is expensive, 7.62x38mmR.
But it isn't the type of gun you will shoot hundreds of rounds through at a sitting though. Between the terrible trigger and negligable accuracy the fun of shooting them fades pretty fast.

I would like to pick one up to go with my 91/30, I just have never had the extra $100 burning a hole in my pocket for a decorative pistol.

I was up at Cabela's yesterday, their 91/30's were on sale for $129 yet and they did have quite a few on the rack.

It wasn't until my fourth one that I got to one that wasn't force matched (where they disassemble all the guns, throw the parts in buckets, grind the serial numbers off everything but the receivers, "refurbish", reassemble and then go over everything with a electropencil to "force" the numbers match again.

Might still be a good gun but I wouldn't hold them an as high of a reguard as one that didn't get shuffled around.

When I got mine (and any other time I looked at them) numbers matching was pretty much a given and there were even some hex receivers sprinkled throughout. Kinda wonder if they are not getting down the bottom of their barrel...

Yeah, the Cabela's near me has 2 racks full of em. Mismatched parts happen, but I usually make sure they all match before I buy them. Even if they don't, your just replacing a piece that's the same, and it should be fine, just make sure the components are screwed up.

Yeah the buttpad and magazine floorplate are not really critical so much but I would really like the bolt to at least match the receiver.

They are not rare enough that you can't wait and find a matching gun if you want to. And since right now they cost the same I would rather have a matching gun...

Opps I said "are". Lol but, yeah, having matching components are better, the only thing I can imagine being an issue for mismatched parts is that they made little changes during the years so, a different year would have a slightly different part.

So as of midnight we won't be able to buy guns anymore because NICS has shut down. What a load of crap LOL. Means the gun dealer just sells you the gun and don't need to bother with background checks?

Not likely. But, that would make more sense than what will probably happen....

I have read that the shutdown is hurting new hires because they can't do background checks... so in theory that would mess up any gun sale requiring one too.

Those who have concealed carry permits will be able to easily buy guns as there isn't a background check required for those who have permits or at least in Idaho you don't have to have a background check if you have a current conceal carry permit.

I believe that may be the first gun-related law I've heard that actually makes sense.^

Haha, yeah, unfortunately I took the class in 2009 and never finished the paperwork to get my permit, was working hours at the time where the times I could go down and have my finger prints done I was at work, so it never got done. I have a nice certificate hanging on my wall saying I completed the familiarization course to get the permit though LOL.

What I don't understand is I carry my keys in my pocket everyday they are always concealed, and I can use them as a weapon, I carry a pen in my shirt pocket, its concealed, I don't need a permit to carry it either. Why do I need a permit to carry a gun without people seeing it?

Only thing I can see is it's kinda hard to put a hole all the way through somebody from 50+feet away with a pen or keys.

I carry a knife all the time myself. Oh, and a box cutter when I'm at work.
