I just got done with my sas and 302 swap but everyone said if i wanted a lifted ranger to drive good with 8" of suspension lift i'd have to go straight axle so i did and it doesnt drive any better i just got it back from getting a wheel alignment and it doesnt seem any better. I'm wondering if the bump steer issue is because of the track bar not being in-phase with the drag link off the pitman arm.............?????????????????

here are some pics to help>>>>>>>

Fixed your pictures.

Your track bar and drag link need to be on the same angle and be the same length as each other.

Here is a shot for BrayD's sas steering.

This is what it should look like. (mind you he is running high steer)

I see you have an adjustable trac arm mount. Move it up 1 or 2 holes to where it is at least at the same angle as the draglink

If the rear rides like sh_it it's cause of the 8" of stacked blocks.

If the front rides like sh_it it's cause your track bar and drag link aren't matched up.

Run high steer knuckles and build your axle end trac bar mount to match your drag link angles. Peterson's did an article about this. With in the last few months.

By the way, get rid of those blocks. Just do it. Please?

it just steers like crap, i'll get rid of blocks but i'm waiting to find a decent price on a set of leaf springs. Gonna try moving trac bar up a few holes to get angles the same but shouldnt the alignment shop have known to do this?

I would ream the knuckles to mount the tierod on top. This would be better than moving your trackbar up on it's bracket (not only should they be parallel, the closer to horizontal they are, the better as well).

Also, how is your caster angle on that? That axle looks like it's rotated awfully far forward.

yea i tried that when i mounted the steering up and i cant put the tie rod on top because the bolt for the track bar where it mounts on the axle is in the way, unless i find another way to mount the lower part of the track bar.....The shop said my caster is within specified range but barely, and i dropped it back off to them tonight to get them to re-align the truck with the track bar parallel with the drag link so we'll see of that helps if not I'll be changing my steering around i guess

the shop moved the track bar up 2 holes and re-aligned the truck and it drives alot better so i'm gonna let the steering that way till i get a set of 38's and see how it drives then...................
