2.5L ('98-'01) Starts, goes into gears, wont move

Hi all,

I've got a 2000 Ford Ranger automatic transmission that sat for a couple months and when I started it, it went into gear (I could feel it shift) but it won't move. I put it into neutral and tried to push it and it won't budge. It's like the E brake is still on.

What could be wrong?

Maybe the ebrake is stuck.

The rear brake shoes will sometimes stick to the drums. I've had it happen before. Welcome to the club.

How do I release the shoes from the drum?

Take the wheels off and beat the drums with a hammer until they let go.
