Does anyone know the spring rate of the 1050lb(load rating) rear leaf springs and/or the 1350lb.

Spring rate would be more in the 200-300 lbs I would assume.

I was going to try to fit some fiberglass leaf springs from a different application into my truck. Thinking I might want to get some air bags to assist if I end up still using it as a truck.

Thanks for any input.

Removed from the vehicle spring rate is the mount of downward pressure applied to the centre of the leaf spring assembly to compress it 1 inch.

To find out what yours are you would have to find a spring shop that actually has a leaf spring spring rate tester, not many do.

"hold my beer" method of determining spring rate.

place jackstands under rear axle, you want to measure springs not tires.
accurately measure fender to ground on both sides.
have a 200 lb buddy stand directly over rear axle, bounce & settle then measure
remember that's only 100 lbs per spring
2 buddys, 3 buddys , or anything you can weight accurately.

i guess you have to look at the door sticker to see which 3 leaf pack you have to know if you are the 408 or the 617 numbers, on the 03-11 range

I was shopping for leaf springs, and rock auto and one other site (I think james duff) actually provided specs like load rate, spring rate, #of leafs, and even free arch as well. I noticed some of the same load rate springs came in different size free archs. Hope his helps.

Stock my truck is a 1984 Ranger S trim. What I am finding is 1050lb load rating. I have drop -1.5” shackles with 1250lb springs from a ranger edge which are +1”. I am going to be trying some Hyperco Composite 225lb spring rate 4.5” arch(-2” compared to ranger) springs @875lb load rating for road racing style track days. Won’t be putting anything in the truck bed for hauling except for what tools/wheels/spares/jacks are need for the track days and bikes.

I have 1050 lb springs. Hauling a dirt bike and its gear is no problem. It rides nice empty too. I once drove a drunk friend home back there, cab was full. He said it was the smoothest laying in the bed of a truck ride home he's ever had. I am happy with them.

I have the single-leaf fiberglass rear springs, which is odd since its a reg cab longbed. 320# of softner salt really squats it good. I have axle mounted coil helpers but took them off recently so my backroad morning commute wouldn’t be such a rough ride.
