I'm going to be replacing my auto hubs with manual ones and I was wondering what spindle nut sockets I was going to need to take off the ones for auto and put on the ones for manual hubs. I don't think there the same size so I'm assumming I'm going to buy two sockets. I have heard not to buy the sockets with four prongs on them because the can slip off while your tightening the nut. Links or pictures of what I need would be extremly helpful.
Thanks guys.

The 4 prong is what you want for the manual, there is more than one type/size, the auto takes a 2 3/8" [not sure on size] socket.

I can probably get my hands on a 2 3/8" socket if it is just a standard socket and not some special one.

to get the auto hub nut off all you need is a pair of channel lock pliers and a magnet to pull the lock pin out, the nut should not be tight at all...

Wish I'd known this when I did mine, especially about there being a lock pin. I busted the nut on the first one I took off, guess I should have read a book.:shok: Better yet, I should have done a search on TRS.

itll be labeled 4 wheel drive socket, I paid 14 buxx for it at advanced and they will know what it is just tell them hub socket, the smaller of the two. I used a thin curved blade knife to get my pin out then used a flat head screwdriver and hammer to loosen the auto hubnut. It dont take much it aint on tight. I couldnt get my channel locks between the lugs to get a good grip.

they most likely won't have an idea of what you are trying to do, if they don't understand what it's for tell them you need the socket for a Dana 44, it's the same thing.

I found the socket for the manual hub on summit for 7.95 and have found the auto hub socket for anywhere from 10-40 dollars. I'm going to see today if I can get a pair of channel locks in there today instead of buying a socket that I'll only use once in my life.
off to the garage batman:icon_rofl:
