Hi all, I just picked myself up an '07 3.0 V6 XL. It's in great condition, but it's missing the spare. Can someone tell me if the spare tire holder will fit a full-size spare?
Also, would the truck have come with any kind of cover for the spare, or does it just mount directly to the ...thing... under the bed?
Thanks!

Welcome.
It should take a full size spare. My 2009 XL does, and it fits the spare well with room to spare.
225/70/15 spare is same size as tires on the truck.
Mounts to a spare tire carrier under bed. The long tire tool crank fits into hole just above rear bumper and you use it to crank the tire up/down,

Yup it should fit the same size tire as marked on the door panel sticker. Rangers never came with donut spares. And no there is no cover. Covering it would just trap dirt and water degrading the tire faster.

Tires up 31X10.5R15 will fit. The 31 only just fits. It gives you plenty of room for tire size options and still carry it in the factory holder.

I'm in the same boat, new-to-me Ranger ('04 XLT super cab, 4x4, 4.0/auto) without a spare wheel/tire. I know I need a 16" wheel but I don't know what to look for at junk yards. Can anyone post a pic of a steelie? I'd love to have another alloy but yards seem to think there worth big $$$. TIA.

If you lived closer, I would just give you mine. It's sitting in the scrap pile since I replace it with a matching aluminum wheel. My guess is that shipping costs would be abut the same price as a junkyard spare. So better to just get the junkyard spare.

Thanks for the pic! I'll keep yours in mind in case I strike out around here (Chicago-land). I can send you a shipping label to make it even easier (should I decide to take your wheel). Much appreciated. :icon_thumby:

I have a 32X11.5-15 MT spare. No, it doesn't fit all the way into the reliefs in the frame for the spare. My hitch receiver keeps it from going all the way back or it would come close to fitting in the reliefs. I have it so it is tucked all the way up in the front near the differential and it is almost flush with the bottom of the receiver, but it does hang down just a little. I have hit the back of receiver when off-road occasionally, but have never hit the spare tire.

When my 33X10.5 tires need replacing, I am going to see if I can get one to fit as a spare. I don't have much hope that it will work but that won't keep me from trying. I was told the 32X11.5 wouldn't fit too. The only thing I am concerned about is getting too much weight for the holding mechanism.
