Oh okay, the owner at the mechanic shop is having them put some head gasket sealer to delay things and he said he thinks that it could possibly work( He probably knows it won't but is throwing a curve ball) anyhow it makes sense what you say and I hear the machine shops do pretty good work here for reasonable pricing so that s probably the best option.

I don't think I would ever trust a mechanic who is willing to use head gasket sealer on a customer's car.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Maabco motors will ship you a long block with a 1 year warranty right to your door for 2,050.

Right the owner said to use the sealer. I didn't realize till now that this shop prefers to mainly do medium task mechanic work not engine installs although the mechanics do good work and they can do greater projects the owner has had them do alot of work on both trucks really good until now with this they, took chances by not changing the radiator and therm switch when that shouldve been the order, then work on the AC.

That's good to know I probably will end up going that route. I have heard of some good machine shops here that rebuild and if they have a 1 year waranty with reasonable low pricing I might use local but if the pricing is close to Maabco's then I will probably use Maabco.

The thing with maabco is they have the motor sitting on a shelf ready to go. Tell them you want one and it could be on your doorstep in a few days.

It seems like it's always a gamble with machine shops regarding their turnaround time.

Some will tell you a week, and it'll be done in a week.

Most seem to always take 2x as long as what they say.

Then there's the places like my buddy brought his 350 to. Dude builds the best race motors in the state, so he knows his crap better than most.. clearly.. but he also clearly focuses on his race clientele.. cause it took him the better part of a year to get around to my buddys motor lol.

Yeah I know what you mean by "their clientelle". I don't mind the machine taking a while two weeks or a few weeks is no big deal I have another truck it's old too but in pretty decent shape even though it's got some high miles.

I hear that you can get a real good deal from machine shops like even lesser cost than paying for one aout of the salvage yard.Have you heard of people having good experience at machine shops?
