There was some difficulty. Mainly a tools on hand issue. The biggest thing is the need of a front end service kit for working on ball joints and tie rod ends. I didn’t bring mine with me because I didn’t know what tools JohnnyO had on hand.
Didn’t have proper tools to get the ball joints apart the first time. Second time I got the ball joint and tie rod end off but I couldn’t push the LCA down enough to get the strut out. For now the spacers are on a shelf waiting for me to scrounge up a spare $450 to have a shop do it. Be advised if you want to pop out the axle shaft the toque spec on the hub nut is like 212 ft. lb.
I came across this spring compressor at Harbor Freight. Ya think that would work?

It depends on the spring diameter. I have the same compressor and it worked fine on the rear springs of my CR-V. The diameter of the front springs was smaller and it did not work. I had to take those to a shop that had a strut compressing machine.

I used 3 ratchet straps to compress the spring on this strut. It worked but ended up buying new struts with springs

I dunno. You want to try it again at your place? Took up enough of your time already. I could pick up the other Jon for help and input if needed. I'm just not up for taking it apart a third time and still not getting the level kit on.

We could give it a whack but that's up to you. The next couple weeks are screwed up because of second shift and an unit inspection but if you aren't in a rush, we could see what we can break in the process.

Okay. I'm kinda busy the next few weekends myself.

Guys,

There's a lot of talk about hitting the 3" mark on a lift, and needing longer UCA's. However, yet there are several 3-3.5" kits out there that do not contain longer UCA's.

Thoughts on this? There doesn't seem to be any definitive info out there about the longer UCA's other than "It's a good idea to get longer UCA's when you hit that 3" mark."

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
All the complete kits I've seen for that amount of lift include the uca's.

If I was going higher than a 2.5 level I would for sure get a kit with UCAs

A mall crawler probably wouldn't need the ucas but if the rigs gonna be taken off road then it absolutely does.

Uca's, extended travel coilovers, and the apg tie rod ends are all a guy needs to go from 6.5" to 9" of wheel travel in the front end. Definitely the route I'm gonna start to go once my struts are toast.

This Lift looks nice, with the optional UCA's.

I decided on the 2.5" BDS kit. 2.5" up front, and I'll do a .5" rear block to keep some of the factory rake.

I just got the eibach 1" block kit in the mail today. I got mine for 80$ but regular price is 130$ iirc, not a bad deal for blocks, new ubolts, nuts, washers, and the prestigious name on them lol. Does require a longer shock.

Man I've been thinking about getting the eibach kit. But my fiend James has had to replace 2 shocks from leakage. Now they've swapped them both under warranty bit still seems like a pain. So now I'm leaning toward the BDS myself.
