Long story short, was driving along and my hood popped open. Among other damage, my hinges are bent. I see new are available on the interwebz. Looks like mine are spot welded in. True? I assume need to find/cut the spot welds, then spot weld the new one(s) on?

Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
rang,

I realise that I am not answering your question but a hood from the yard, I've bought a couple, aren't going to break the bank.

PS,
When I was 11years old riding with my mother, going to visit friends of then family, at a hair over 45 mph, the family station wagon's hood opened. She freaked and for some unknown desire for self preservation, I talked her through the process of maintaining a strait course while slowing to pull over safely.

A very nice man stopped and did an emergency road repair, so that the Hood could be latched for us to drive safely. My mother was so shaken up, I had to drive us (I had years if driving experience, mini bikes, motorcycles, tractors). Nevertheless, a frightening experience, at any speed while driving on a main byway.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
It sounds like the truck has been "serviced" by Jiffy lube and the hood latch was never lubed. Sorry it happened to you and glad it didn't cause a wreck.

hahaha! No, it was actually my own fault. I had a vacuum gauge hooked up to my EGR signal and was checking to see if it was getting signal. I thought I had it at the first click (like if you pulled the handle). Guess not.
I was able to spend about an hour with a set of crescent wrenches to bend the hinges back into shape. A body hammer fixed the bend from where the hood contacted the wiper. It did not flop open enough to damage the rest of the hood though.
