Crossed threads are tight threads.
So a buddy who has a moving gig needed to off a pool table out of his giant transit van. I accepted it in pieces skeptically. Turned out to be a Connelly in excellent shape. Had even more luck finding a good, cheap and honest guy on craigslist to assemble and cover it. I paid him above asking price. Loving my place now, remember that feeling?

Anyways I need to get some decent cues. I'm a variety guy....and noticed there are various lengths, weights etc...

I'd like to have a enough full size sticks for a 2 on 2 game, and maybe a few shorty sticks just in case the rare tight spot shows up....its placed pretty well, but there are still a few. And maybe a breaking stick.

I asked the pool table guy what's a decent stick mid shelf price...he said buy something around $80 bucks and make sure its weighted. I kind want crappy 1 piece sticks so playing at pool halls wont affect me.

I dont wanna be that guy taking his own cue to a pool hall, I'd rather just learn to play with warped 1 piece sticks at home lol.
'
I have a bridge stick and dont plan to use it.

Im sure some of you have/had a pool table and got some advice. Cue up!

we always would just get the ones from academy or where ever you can find that had cues. i had a nice two piece but would always forget to use it so the one piece were fine to me. i would just find the heaviest one and use it.

is your table a regulation table or a bar size table?

you will make more daily money if yours is a bar size. you can go join the evening pool tournaments for extra money.

thats what i did when i was in the army since i owed the irs and they garnished my pay check for two years. when you are active duty and live in the barracks, the irs leaves you enough money to buy a tube of toothpaste, some deodorant, and soap when they garnish your pay so you have to find alternate under the table ways to make money.

being an escort was to hard since atlanta is predominantly gay in that scene. i would have done it if i was guaranteed chicks, even if it was older ladies, but no-go on the gay scene.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

And now we know way more than we ever wanted to know about that.

As far as adice for the original question... I have no cue what to say.

I played in an 8-ball bar league. Pretty much everyone uses 2-piece cues. Weights vary from 15oz to 24oz. I like 18-19oz. Tip size varies too, the smaller tip usually being used for billiards and the bigger for 8 and 9-ball. There are 2-piece cues that you cannot tell where the joint is so look like a one piece, that's what I preferred. The most important thing is to get a straight cue. Then have a cue tip shaper to keep the tip round and roughed up so the chalk holds.

I played leagues for many years... I also won a couple 9 ball tournaments through the years. I used a McDermott that cost me more then 2 mortgage payments at that time. I also had a fiber wrapped cue that to this day is still straight... I used it as my break cue at 21 ounces. My regular cue was 19 ounces.

I just saw a set of 4 Aska cues with varying weight on Amazon for right around a hundred bucks with great reviews. That's what I would have for house sticks... then pay up and buy yourself a good middle of the road cue for yourself.

Yea something like that would be perfect, just some whatever sticks. Weighted it is then.

My bad forgot to mention it is not full size, its the smaller 4'x8' size. I had the slow felt installed, plays nice.
Its in my living room, so probably won't be a monetary thing, although combined with the massage chair, might get me some lovin. I mean Female lovin lol.

I get taxed hard too (union job, single, no kids, no claims).

Sounds like that Deuce Bigalow movie is not too far off from what its like lol.

In my experience gigalo clientele is pretty much dudes and rich lonely old ladies. Big girls get plenty of love around here.

I would be rich if I was gay.

Male escort and pool shark are on my bucket list. You have lived.

Have you considered being a strip club DJ? I know a few, that's on my list too.

I grew up with a pool table. My dad was a great shooter. He would play me one handed until I could beat him. Then he made me play one handed. This was on an eight foot table. Put me on a 6 foot bar table and it was tough to beat me. He would take me to the bars during deer camp week... he would give me a quarter for the table... sit back... drink beer... and make side bets. At 12 years old my pool playing most likely paid for the entire week long trip.

my grandparents had an 8 foot table and my parents had a bar table. then, when i moved out the place i moved to ended up having a pool table in the common area. and back in the days prior to the net and cell phones, the barracks had them in the common areas too.

people get mad if you play them one handed and win. they want to fight after that

I am sore from playing so much lol, these tweaked sticks suck though. One of my renters is a burn victim and has no digits, only a few nubz. Does it count if he beat me with two hands but no fingers?
He rides a dual sport bike pretty good too lol sheer human will is amazing.

I've been binge watching trials videos. Scored a GasGas trials bike and got bit by the moto bug. Some pool playing vids would be a nice change of pace lol
