Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew what I do with the other hoses coming off of the intake port connect to the front of the body. I was just thinking of sealing off the air box then just have pvp run off the box out the side pannel and up the panger side door, but i didnt want to screw anything up by leaving those hose off. Any suggestions?

Do you mean the vacuum line? I had to rip my oe inlet off at the airbox, just put a properly sized screw in the vac line and no problems. You should run a little better without the oe heatee off the head. I surely do. And make sure to put a screen on the end of your snorkel to keep debris out.

While we are on the topic of snorkels... I am interested in putting one on my truck. But the built from 3" drain pipe ones look really hillbilly. Can anyone recommend a good looking snorkel?

Use 95+ intake box, they are watertight and a have a perfect round inlet to clamp to.

Ill get some pics, but an older 2.3 90* intake boot clamps to it then has a 3" ID opening to run the snorkel too.

As far vac lines go, just disconnect them and plug the one off at the intake manifold with a cap. You can remove the hole warm air blend door duct completely.

Hey cat that looks nice. I had to cry when I saw the 405 dollar price tag and that was before shipping. ARB certainly thinks a lot of their stuff.

Plum... How about some close up photos of that mandrel bent setup. That is starting to look really attractive.

The problem with the one made out of plumbing pieces is well .... That it looks like it was made out of plumbing pieces. :icon_twisted:

Here is the post from my build thread last year.

I used a stock intake boot from a 94 2.3 Ranger that used to connect the airbox to the tube, it slips perfectly onto the 95+ airbox adaptes it to 3" pipe as well as elbows it. Then I ran 3"exhuast tubing back to the cowl and used a 45* rubber boot to shoot the pipe up through the fender an along the window. I bought a mandrel bent 3" U and cut out the angles I needed to run along the window and go vertical. I used a precleaner off a John Deere 4400 combine to top it off. The preclreaner fits snug on a 3" OD pipe and only cost me 2 bucks at the tractor JY. I picked up a new clear plastic bowl for 10 bucks since the old one was cracked.

I lost all of my pictures of the snorkel build, but I used an old junk fender for a test fender when I cut the hole, then made a stencil to transfer it to the good fender. I used a some sort of rubber edging that my dad had laying around to seal the hole around the pipe.

Ill snap some pictures of the setup next time I have the fender off.

Jim Oaks took some pics of what it looks like behind the fender and the mount on the A pillar during the last meet.

A buddy of mine bought this set up for his 98 ranger 2 years ago and it won't work. It does not follow the body lines of the Ranger like the ARB kit does and just did not look correct when he pre-fit it. He got lucky and sold it to one of our Jeep buddies. It is a good price for the kit.

Cat thanks for the heads up on the Jeep snorkel.

Plum that is really nice. I really like the compact and clean look of it. Where did you purchase the (rain cap) for it and what did you use to gasket it into the fender? I am wondering if I could fashion it out of 3" EMT or PVC conduit.

The "rain cap" is a precleaner from a John Deere 4400 combine. A lot of older ag equipment used them.

The gasket is some sort of weather stripping used to seal refrigerator doors.lol.
