My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Wow! Is any air going to get past those to cool the engine?

Today I learned…

The 7” LED lights are a tad bit excessive.

If you get into overlanding, those lights are perfect for seeing great distances on long tracks.

Some say better than a roof bar because you don’t have the glare of the lights off of the hood. The down side is that they block air flow into the radiator and intercooler.

So far this week I’ve received:
Warn Zeon 12k winch (still waiting on the control pack relocation kit)
1set of MaxTrax (Blue)
Dash mount for the Midland MXT500
Used dash trim pieces (so I don’t have to cut up mine)
Stuff to make mounts for the Maxtrax (I’m thinking inside the topper right here)

The only problem is that I had to work OT today and now that I’m home we’re getting hit with the remnants of the tropical storm that’s off the east coast. I’ll have to wait to start installing stuff.

Ive never used them, but Ive heard they work great. Ive only owned them for about a day. I didn’t get stuck in my driveway yet, so I don’t know for sure.

I see them a lot on top of 4Runners and Jerps. I’ve been in a few situations where I thought they may be useful, but I never hear anyone talk about using them.

I used 3 sets today to build a bridge across a rut to get a Subaru across. You guys been proud though. Only a Jeep on 37s and me made it across with out help.

I’ve never used them but the overlanders I follow on youtube have them and they have gotten them out of a few jams.

Good equipment to have in a lot of situations, especially if you are where there are no trees within reach of your winch and it makes recovery a lot easier if you have a buddy tugging you out.

I want a set but the good ones are not cheap. Recovery gear is generally something you don’t want to cheap out on if you can avoid it.
