I have a 2009 Ranger with Sirius capabilities. I found out that my antenna was faulty. I installed a new oem sat anyenna. When I turn on the radio I get a sat fault code however after I drive the truck for about a mile or two the satellite radio works fine. Need help in figuring out why it doesn’t work as soon as I start the truck. Called Sirius but they were no help.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I moved it to the right place.

Mac,

Where is your antenna located on the vehicle?

Did the new antenna come with a new cable? Or did you reuse the old cable?

I did an ohm check and it was good.

Good in what way? Antenna cables are usually coaxial and must have a certain impedance, which is a measure of the effective resistance between the center conductor and the shield while passing signals in a specified frequency range. If the cable is pinched or severely kinked somewhere, that reduces the impedance and it will not work. I don't know a good way for you to check that.

I googled how to test the antenna and it said to do an ohms check on the antenna. If it is good it will have a reading of 2-2.5 ohms. The old one had a reading of 11.5 ohms. The new one had a reading of 2 ohms.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I hate siruis, their contracts all auto renew unless you call them to cancel. Before calling make sure you use the bathroom and then get something to drink and pick out a comfortable chair because it'll probably take close to an hour to talk to a person. Their invoices list account numbers or ISN numbers, not the year and model of the vehicle, you have to call for that, too. I mentioned it to one of our salesmen when he said he'd just renewed his Sirius. Turns out he renewed the service on a car he had traded in two years prior. I'll buy a harmonica and learn how to play it while driving before I'll subscribe to sirius again.

I dont have Sirius.

If you learn harmonica, consider this your formal invitation to become my permanent co-driver.
