I've been looking recently at upgrading my radio. I find I could use something with bluetooth. And I'm using navigation more and more in my truck. So I cam across this:

Power Acoustik CP-71W

Wondering if anyone here had tried one. Or knew anything about the brand? The lack of specs for the built in amplifier is concerning, but my truck isn't exactly a soundstage anyway.

For reference my current radio is Pioneer DEH-14UB

It seems to be popular with Miata and Ferrari guys...

So I just found a manual for the CP-71W. It claims 17W RMS per channel. Wonder how that's determined tho. The Pioneer claims 50WPC but he manual says 14 RMS bye CEA 2006 standard.

Sorry I can’t help with that particular model, but I just finished installing a different one last week. Mine was a lot cheaper than that one and Sound quality is no worse than the factory one it replaced.

Looks like a pretty decent radio for the money. I wouldn’t worry too much about power, you probably don’t ever need more than 5-10 watts unless you’re doing AC DC concerts. I think the single DIN android touch interface looks cool. (Assuming I’m seeing that right)
Looks to me like Pioneer fell into the numbers game trap a bit much- they call it a 50 watt (which it can’t do continuously) but a 22 watt continuous. And then the even lower number to conform to whatever that standard is supposed to be. That lowest number is probably pretty close to what it can actually do.

It definitely sounds like a decent radio. And it sits flush, according to the bmw forums

Got it and installed.

I'm still trying to learn it's quirks. Audio quality is surprisingly good. With a couple tweaks to the equalizer, it's better than the Pioneer was. Not quite as powerful though. I can fix that with newer speaker in the back so I can turn the balance back to normal.

I made a startup logo for it:

And trimmed a couple backgrounds to fit. The resolution is 1024x496.

Seems fast enough. I haven't figured how to stop it from auto starting Maps yet. Reaching the audio controls from Android Auto mode is kinda a pain.

thats how the u-connect on the wife's wrangler is too. as soon as you plug the phone in, it opens maps and whatever songs to play. if you want to go back to the fm radio or anything that works without hte phone being plugged in, you have ot navigate through some screens so its a pain the butt.

How well does it hook up to your Android? Have you tried the Apple Carplay on it?

I don't have an Iphone. Android auto seems to be fine. I'm still figuring it out. I don't want android auto to start every time. Or to be able to access the usb media controls from android auto. Either way.

Interesting radio. I've been thinking of changing my head unit in my truck because I am still using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord to hook my phone up. Having Bluetooth would be a nice option. I'm currently running an older Sony Xplode CDX-GT310 head from unit from around '06 and it puts out 17w RMS per channel to Pioneer 80w RMS speakers and an amped sub. I'm liking the option to change the background on this radio. I just may have to look into it further.

What year is your Ranger, and do you have a pic of it in your dash?
