I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
Even if the vehicle had to be towed from an Arby's parking lot after you were arrested for rubbing your junk on all the packets of horsey sauce?
Damn, now everytime I go to Arby's I'm going to have that image....

And, it only took 29 posts to go from the original post to Dirtman sexually molesting something.

Without dropping pan, can't clean pan or change filter...
Unless someone's come up with a way to do those thru that itty bitty dipstick tube. :icon_rofl:
evacuate from the dipstick then drop pan and change filter with no or very little mess.. thats how i do it

Wiper blades. And I never change them unless it's raining.

Yeah... I'm gonna add wiper blades to my list too... but it seems I always change them when it's like zero outside temp.

Sometimes I would gladly trade all those tools and times and struggles and crap to be the regular Joe Blow with a AAA card, a warranty and a lease.
Why in the world would you ever sign up for a lease?

Except in a very few very specific circumstances leasing a car is one of the dumbest things you can do with money.

Nevermind. You guys are taking it too literally. I just meant like people that never once popped the hood, or had to do anything beyond their basic roles. It would be nice to be that guy once in awhile. Just drive the thing. Or whatever else. Just do regular Joe Blow/John Q Public stuff...Not be self reliant so to speak.
It would be nice to be ignorant enough to not feel the need to be so self reliant with everything. Not have to fix everything myself. Trust the system or whatever, be a sheep lol.
Anyways please don't take this the wrong way, Im just venting. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed with projects and burnt out on wrenching at the moment, a tinkerers slump or something...

I think it was Elon Musk that said life should more than just solving one miserable problem after another....

What if you had more money than time? Then a lease is a steal, and a tax write off....Just sayin....

Its amazing how people mind their money so much more than their time. Time is gone forever once spent, money can be made.

Nope. A lease is a rental. You never own the thing, just pay to use it. At that point it would be better to buy it outright with cash and trade or sell it when you are done with it.

A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
My luck tends to be a buncha problems on the whole fleet all at one time...then its down to priotizing which ones can be put off (like, the ranger needing wheel bearings took precedent over the F250 needing shocks)

Then i get the stuff fixed and everythings good for a few months. Then its right back to it,

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Never had enough money to seriously consider not doing my own maintenance. But I'm naturally a bit if a tightwad, too. So i hate paying someone to do something i can do myself.

I did lease cars for a while. But that was a special situation. It was the employee lease program here at BMW. No down payment. They took care of all taxes, insurance and maintenance. AND I was driving 30 miles each way to work. It just made sense to put the miles on somebody else’s vehicle. It was still expensive and I got out of the program after a few brief years. I definitely enjoyed always having a brand new BMW in the driveway.
