My credo
I poop in the furnace.
I own a P226 and my mom owns a P229 both 9mm. My mother read the crap about the Army getting P320s and finding out they fire when dropped and now won't touch her gun.

I'm not a handgun expert here but correct me if I'm wrong. The 320 is similar to a glock (no external hammer, single action only so less safety features compared to the 226/229). I've never owned a glock or any single action pistol.

The p226/229 have a decocking lever with a firing pin block, you can decock it and the trigger is now in double action mode which takes a fairly substantial pull for the first shot. I see no possible way a 226/229 could ever go off when dropped if they are decocked. Not even fully sure they would go off when cocked for that matter.

Am I right or wrong here? The issue is with the 320 design NOT the other sig pistols especially the hammer fired DA/SA models?

Also... maybe don't drop your weapon? :dunno:

Then Navy folks here all carry the P226 and they all say they love them and never had an issue.

It’s been a while since I followed the P320 issue but last I heard they had a fix for the remote possibility that it would happen and issued a recall.

For the pistol to go off, it has to be dropped at a very specific angle at a very specific height. I saw a few drop tests on those pistol when the issue first came up and none had went off.

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
Probably drop tested fully cocked and unlocked, and out of 1,000 drops it went off once. I'd say you are right on both. I prefer my weapon to fire when dropped, prevents most others from trying to retrieve it.
