'86 BII.

I understand I have bolt-in side windows and the window-to-body seals are basically just weatherstripping tape. No big deal.

But what about the rubber around the window on the outside, that you can see? Is this available anywhere? A PO siliconed all around it, and my carpet on that side is still soaked. Trying to plan ahead since I still have to remove that window anyway in order to replace the quarter panel.

Does that rubber actually serve any sealing purpose? Or just gap filler / decoration? Am I stuck just trying to clean up the silicone and keep it pieced together as best I can?

I don't know for sure, but I imagine it is at least semi-functional for keeping water away from the actual seam.

As far as availability, probably a custom auto glass shop is the only place anymore. I haven't seen it sold separate from windows, and I don't know where to get those ones anymore.

I haven’t pulled one out, but I don’t think it’s rubber. Looks like it’s part of the glass, kinda like a built in frame.

Salvage yard maybe.

Hmmm....they might be plastic or something. Mine are very hard, possibly old rubber but also maybe plastic. Hopefully I can scrape off the silicone. They have a rough texture, which doesn't tell me anything either way since I've seen old, hard rubber deteriorate this way too.

I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
Look up or contact James Duff Enterprises. They deal speciffically with early Bronco's and Bronco 2.
I looked in their on line catalog and didn't find any glass trim, but they may have a line on glass trim/gaskets and where to source them.

Just found another web site you could try...
NOS Parts Ltd. They list all Ford makes/models and have a good inventory of NOS Ford parts.

the molding on the outide of the window is molded to the glass and there isnt anyway to replace it. The glass does bolt in and is set in butyl which by now will be as hard as cement. It will take some heat from the back side to soften it up enough to push the window out once its unbolted.

I always found WD40 to be helpful when removing windows as well.. Along with a razor blade or two.
