Greetings all: I have a 17 year old son who is in Boy Scouts. One of the Scout parents has an '87 Bronco II Eddie Bauer with only 103,000 miles and in excellent condition that he wants to sell for $1500. I think it is a great deal. My only concern is that the truck has only lap belts in the back seat. I understand this is normal for that year, but we had a dear friend become paralyzed and eventually die due to an accident where she was in a car wearing only a lapbelt. Does anyone know whether it is possible to install shoulder belts in the rear seats for this model? Thanks!

personally 1500$ seems a bit much for a broncoII. and your best bet for converting the seatbelts would be to get some off a ford explorer. i don't know what you would need exactly but im sure welding would be required.

I've seen it done and have pictures of it. You will need to weld up a rollbar hoop and tie it to the C-pillar. You can then attach the shoulder belt to the roll bar.

I'm not sure where u'd mount them either. I haven't had an issue with my kids and the seat belts, but I understand ur concern. Anything is possible w fabrication.

i think $1500 is a fair price for a BII with only 103K, as long as the interior isnt wrecked.

as far as the belts go, i think it is way too expensive to all that work. a shoulder belt doesnt necessarily mean you cant get hurt real bad. that sucks about your family friend, but sometimes bad shit happens to good people, thats life.

if you want shoulder belts in the rear of your sons vehicle, i'd start lookin for a early 90's ford explorer that has been well maintained. i'm sure you could find one for around $1500.
