I'm looking for suggestions on a good shop to use for a 5.0 swap on my 87 supercab 4x4.

Something in south austin would be great, but I can be flexible up to a reasonable distance.

Any ideas?

Paying for a swap to be done is going to be very painful...

Yes, +1

It would be best to call around and feel out independent shops.

Many will just refuse outright

Remember they have to warranty the swap so some just won't want to do it.

It would be "Custom" work so look for shops offering Custom modifications, and they, of course, are not usually charging bargain rates :)

Yeah I'm afraid of that as well. I'm at the point where the time it takes is more valuable than the money to me, but still don't love the idea.

Anyone in the austin area done one of these that would be willing to help me sort through the rough spots? I've heard it can be done in a weekend, but I thought it would only take me a weekend to do my lift and after all the little weird things popped up it took a full month to get the thing completely finished working weekends and some nights.

I'm hoping to swap the 5.0 and trans from the 96 explorer I got today along with the 8.8 rear into my 87 Supercab.
