Got to the rear shocks today. Had to search the web to find a pair of bilstien shocks that matched the front (24-185509). Took off the driverside and broke the pin that holds the shock, about par for the coarse. These are prone to break on rangers from reading through past post. thought i was going to have to use a bolt . I found out Dorman makes mounts (PN 924-408). Local auto store had one in stock, luck changing. Hers a pic of the mount.

Yep, they are like the leaf spring hangers. Grind off the head, drill through the center of the rivets to relieve the tension and knock them out. The new mounts should be bolt on and might even come with the needed bolts.

Glad i caught it. It was ate up. Replacing both sides, I'm sure the bolt will break on the stud. I haven't seen one survive unless you use a nut splitter and even then the threads on the stud are ate up. Leaf spring hangers look good. Dirty

Still waiting for the shocks so i decided to visit Duff Tuff, wished i would have waited, hes got all i need and only 20 minutes away. Live and learn. I picked up the traction bars and long U bolts they offer. Got the driver side mocked up. seems I got a problem. the emergency brake cable is a little close. Went on easy. Come on UPS.
