Alright guys l did a 4.0 swap one my truck and I'm trying to figure out my options with the floor shifter. Can I use the factory floor shifter with the newer a4ld (93 explorer) which had column shifter. I've already realized the shift lever on the trans want coming out easily and want to avoid that. I fabbed up a bracket to use a cable to the factory floor shifter but it doesn't seem to have enough travel to select the gears properly. Has anyone modified the factory shifter for this? My only thought was to lengthen the arm on the shifter for more travel. Thoughts?
